• This code requires the clinician to specify the "other" phobia; avoid using it for unspecified phobias (F40.20).
• Always sequence this code as the primary diagnosis if it is the main reason for the encounter, or as a secondary diagnosis if it is a co-occurring condition impacting treatment.
