Use this code when documentation clearly indicates a tooth that has not erupted and is fully submerged within the jawbone or gingiva. This typically applies to unerupted teeth identified on radiographic imaging (e.g., panoramic X-ray, CBCT) with no visible portion in the oral cavity. Supporting documentation should specify "embedded" rather than "impacted."

• Differentiate carefully from impacted teeth (K01.1), which are partially erupted or obstructed.
• Do not use for supernumerary teeth unless they are also specifically documented as embedded.
• Ensure the documentation explicitly states "embedded" to support this specific code.
