Polyp of colon

This code identifies a benign, non-adenomatous growth protruding from the mucosal lining of the colon. These polyps are typically asymptomatic but can be discovered during routine colonoscopies or investigations for gastrointestinal symptoms.

Use this code when documentation specifies a "polyp of colon" without further pathological classification, or explicitly states a non-adenomatous, non-inflammatory polyp. This is often an initial finding before definitive pathology results are available, or when pathology confirms a hyperplastic or other non-neoplastic polyp type not otherwise specified.
