This code signifies an accidental overdose or adverse reaction to topical agents used for skin or hair, such as those that soften or remove keratin, or other hair care products. The patient has inadvertently ingested, absorbed, or otherwise been exposed to these substances, leading to a toxic effect. This is the first time the patient is being seen for this specific poisoning event.

Use this code for patients presenting to an emergency department or clinic with symptoms of poisoning after accidentally ingesting or having excessive skin exposure to products like salicylic acid preparations, urea creams, hair dyes, perms, or relaxers. This applies when the exposure was unintentional and the patient is in the acute phase of treatment.
