Disorders of sacrum

This code represents a range of non-traumatic conditions affecting the sacrum, the triangular bone at the base of the spine. It encompasses various structural or functional abnormalities of the sacrum itself, excluding acute injuries like fractures or dislocations.

Use this code for diagnoses such as sacralgia (pain in the sacrum) when a more specific cause is not identified, or for other unspecified sacral disorders. Documentation should clearly indicate a problem localized to the sacrum without evidence of trauma, infection, or malignancy.

• Do not use this code for sacral fractures (refer to 805.6-805.7) or dislocations (refer to 839.4-839.5).
• If the sacral disorder is secondary to another condition, such as a tumor or infection, code the primary condition first.
• Always seek a more specific diagnosis if available, as this code represents an unspecified disorder.
